It's when auto antibodies attack the walls of capillaries in the lungs and kidney.It's a rare disease and quickly causes lung disease and kidney failure.

  • Blood in urine
  • Chest pain
  • Coughing up blood
  • Dark colored urine
  • Decreased amount of urine
  • Foamy urine
  • Pale skin
  • Nausea and vomiting

  • Less than 1 case per 1,000,000 people
  • Mostly young, white men aged 15-35
  • Sometimes in the late 50's for men and more likely for women then
  • Rarely in children
  • Men are eight times more likely to be affected than women

It occurs when the body begins producing anti-glomerular basement membrane antibodies that attack the Glomerular basement membrane in the kidneys which would normally get rid of waste and extra fluid in the blood. Anti-glomerular basement membrane antibodies attack the collagen proteins in the air sacs of the lungs and the filtering units in the kidney membrane.

--> Blood pressure check
--> listening to the heart (abnormal heart rates)
